Lessons learned (so far) from a first timer in the turkey woods.

This year, I celebrated a long-time goal. I got all of my paperwork squared away, got some gear and got into the woods. I've been wanting to for years now but a mixture of time and fear prevented me from following through. Now that my son isn't a little baby anymore, it's much easier for Mom to take care of him in the mornings, so I'm able to get out. This weekend, I crossed a threshold. I went into the woods with a gun. I went into the woods with the intent to kill another living being to harvest it's meat to feed my family. Sounds kinda of cryptic, but that's exactly what happens daily inside butcheries and grocery stores, it just looks different. We're separate and insulated from the reality of our food.
